This is a pretty good strategy to use if you want to observe your opponents more carefully. Once the player has made his fold, his mind doesn’t wander off to a new world. He focuses on his opponents and watch for their weaknesses and behaviors. The tight players are usually the players who are left at the table during the later phases of the game, since they don’t exactly unnecessarily burn chips just to play mediocre hands. This is definitely not for those who are bored easily. This style is for those who have the proper discipline and patience for some serious play.
Overall, if you want to stay longer at the game table, you might want to play the game tight. Although it’s a bit dull at times, if you have the patience for it, you’ll be following the footsteps of the true professional poker players. If you want to simply enjoy the game, and play a lot of hands, without regard to your chips, you can go for the loose method of playing. It’s up to the player himself on which way he wants to play the game.
